Ancient canyons.
Living history.
Your full day.
A private full-day guided hike through Bears Ears National Monument — tailored to your group's pace, interests, and curiosity. Cedar Mesa trails, cliff dwellings, canyon mesas, and desert solitude awaits.
More than a hike —
a meaningful day.
Bears Ears National Monument is one of the most significant and least-crowded landscapes in the American Southwest. Ancient cliff dwellings, rock art panels, soaring mesas, and quiet canyon floors — this is a place that rewards slow travel with the right guide.
Your Clapper Adventures guide will tailor the day entirely to your group — your pace, your interests, and your energy. Whether you're drawn to the archaeology of Ancestral Puebloan culture, the quiet drama of slot canyon light, or simply a long, deep walk in wild country, we'll find the route that fits.
Tailored to Your Group
No two days look the same. Trail selection, pace, and focus are all shaped around your crew — beginners, history buffs, and experienced hikers equally welcome.
Deep Cultural Context
Your guide brings the landscape to life — reading rock art, explaining ancient architecture, and sharing the geology and ecology that shaped this extraordinary corner of Utah.
Leave It Better
Bears Ears is a living cultural landscape. We hike with care, stay on trail, and leave every site exactly as we found it — so others can have this experience for generations.
Mesa
Three routes, one perfect day.
Your guide will recommend the best route based on your group's interests, fitness, and the conditions of the day. All three offer something genuinely unforgettable.
House on Fire
A spectacular Ancestral Puebloan granary tucked into a shallow alcove where morning light catches the red sandstone above and makes the ruins appear to be on fire. One of the most photogenic sites in the Bears Ears region.
Mule Canyon
A fuller exploration of Mule Canyon's remarkable collection of ruins and ancient artifacts, revealing centuries-old stories of the people who lived and farmed this landscape. Your guide puts history in your hands.
Grand Gulch
For those who want real solitude and raw canyon country — Grand Gulch delivers. Well-preserved rock art panels, dramatic cliff dwellings, and the kind of silence that's increasingly hard to find. More rugged terrain, deeper rewards.
What to expect on the trail.
Early Morning Start
We meet at your designated departure point and head south toward Cedar Mesa. Early starts are ideal — the light is extraordinary and the canyon is yours alone.
Route Briefing & Intention Setting
Your guide walks you through the day's route, safety considerations, and what to look for. We're out here to connect with this place — the guide makes that happen.
Immersive Canyon Exploration
This isn't a march from A to B. We pause at ruins, read rock art, discuss geology, eat snacks at good overlooks, and take the time the landscape deserves.
Return & Debrief
We make our way back with energy in reserve. Your guide will answer every question you've been saving up, point out any sights you might have missed, and send you off with good recommendations.
Guide Gratuities
Not required, but always appreciated. If your guide made the day — and we think they will — it's the best way to say so. Cash or card are both welcome.
