Don't just
go outside.
Learn to thrive.
Real outdoor skills built by guides who live them — canyoneering, rock climbing, mountain biking and more. Progressive instruction designed to make you capable, not just supervised.
"Competence
Creates Confidence"

A guided tour gets you through the day.
Skills instruction gets you back on your own.
Every technique you master travels with you — to other canyons, other crags, other trails. The skills you build in Moab open doors everywhere you go next.
Our instructors aren't visiting Moab. They live here, learned here, and teach techniques forged from decades on sandstone, in slot canyons, and across desert terrain that humbles most people.
Whether you're brand new or looking to refine technique, every program is shaped around your pace, your goals, and your definition of a great day outside.
Four disciplines.
One desert classroom.
Rock Climbing
All levels — beginners welcome
From your first time on rock to traditional crack climbing on iconic desert towers — we build movement fundamentals, safety systems, and the judgment to tackle bigger objectives confidently.
- Foot placement, body positioning, and efficient movement on vertical terrain
- Belaying, anchor evaluation, and partner safety communication
- Traditional gear placement and multi-pitch coordination
- Desert-specific crack technique on splitter sandstone

- Chimneying, stemming, and efficient movement through slots

Progressive canyon routes
Mountain Biking
Cyclists wanting to master desert terrain
Slickrock is unlike any surface you've ridden. We teach terrain-specific traction, line selection, weight distribution, and the mental approach that turns intimidating terrain into pure fun.
- Slickrock traction and line-reading on petrified sand dunes
- Cornering, braking, and body position for desert riding
- Technical feature navigation — drops, rock gardens, and climbs
- Desert trail reading and route planning
Where we develop skills
Multi-Sport Programs
Motivated learners wanting broad outdoor competence
The best outdoor athletes are well-rounded. Our multi-sport programs reveal how disciplines cross-train each other — climbing sharpens your MTB body awareness; canyoneering builds rappelling confidence that carries everywhere.
- 2–3 day intensives covering fundamentals across multiple activities
- Week-long comprehensive programs for serious skill development
- Cross-discipline transfer: how each skill reinforces the others
- Adventure planning and independent trip logistics
Extended winter opportunities
We teach from where
you actually are.
No judgment, no minimum, no maximum. We design the day around your current ability and your goals for tomorrow.
Level 01
Foundation Builder
Zero experience needed. We start with safety understanding and build from your very first move. Designed to replace nervousness with genuine confidence through proper progression.
- How equipment protects you and why
- Basic technique with thorough hands-on practice
- Terrain and environmental awareness
- Comfortable progress at your own pace
Level 02
Competence Builder
You've done it before and want to get better. We tighten technique, add complexity, and expand the terrain you can handle independently. This is where real capability jumps forward.
- Refining efficiency in familiar activities
- Tackling more demanding routes with support
- Equipment optimization and personal preferences
- Planning your first self-directed adventures
Level 03
Mastery Focus
Experienced adventurers sharpening the edge. Advanced instruction covers specialized techniques, rescue competence, guide-level leadership, and developing the judgment that separates good from great.
- Aid climbing, advanced canyoneering, technical MTB
- Self-rescue and helping others in terrain
- First-ascent assessment and route development
- Teaching skills and leading others safely
We don't just tell you what to do.
We make it make sense.
Desert technique is different from textbook technique. Our instructors draw on decades of on-the-ground experience to show you the real thing — then they hand it to you.
See it done right
Clear demonstration before you ever try. We model techniques from multiple angles, explain the mechanics, and answer your questions before you move.
Try it with support
Immediate hands-on practice with an instructor right there. Mistakes are expected and used as teaching moments — this is how real skill builds.
Understand the why
We explain the physics, the terrain logic, the safety reasoning. When you know why a technique works, you can adapt it to new situations on your own.
Apply it independently
Progressive challenges that push you just enough. Each success becomes the foundation for the next skill — building toward genuine independence, not dependence.
"You're not signing up for a tour. You're investing in yourself as an adventurer."

None required for beginner programs. We genuinely teach from scratch with comprehensive safety instruction and a progressive build that's designed for people who have never done this before. If you do have experience, we'll place you at the right level and push you forward from there.
Most people build solid foundational competence in 2–3 days of focused instruction. You'll leave with real abilities, not just a general idea of the activity. Advanced proficiency develops over time through continued practice — but the foundations we give you will serve you for years.
Absolutely. Canyoneering and climbing welcome participants ages 8+ with customization built in. We adjust routes, challenge level, and instruction style to keep every member of the group engaged and appropriately challenged. Family skills programs are some of our most rewarding days out.
Both are effective. Single-activity focus builds deeper technique faster. Multi-sport programs show you how disciplines reinforce each other — the body awareness from climbing directly improves your mountain biking, for example. We're happy to talk through what makes sense for your goals when you reach out.
Yes — that's a core part of what we teach. Route selection, risk assessment, gear planning, and logistics for self-directed adventures are woven into our programs. The goal is to make you not need us. When you're ready for that next objective on your own, we want you to feel prepared for it.
