About Clapper Adventures | Private Guided Tours in Moab, Utah
Moab, Utah · Colorado Plateau

Local guides.
Wild places.
Your adventure.

Clapper Adventures is a privately owned guide service rooted in Moab, Utah. We take small groups into the canyon country and mountains we know by heart — tailored to who you are and what you want out of a day outdoors.

Our Story

Born from
living here.

"Every trip is also a teach."

Clapper Adventures was built on a simple idea: the best guide service is the one where your guide actually lives in the place they're taking you. Founder Evan Clapper has spent over 15 years working, climbing, riding, and skiing the Colorado Plateau — not as a destination, but as home.

What started as a passion for showing people the canyon country's less-traveled corners has grown into Moab's go-to boutique guide service for travelers who want more than a crowd. Whether it's a first rappel down a sandstone slot, a crack-climbing lesson at Indian Creek, or a skintrack through the La Sal Mountains after a fresh snowfall, Clapper Adventures treats every outing as its own story.

We're locally owned, guide-led, and committed to small, private groups. That's not just a selling point — it's how we protect the experience. Our trips are tailored to your group, your pace, your definition of a great day outside.

What We Stand For

The Clapper
difference.

Plenty of companies will take you outside. Fewer will actually make the day about you — your curiosity, your comfort level, and your group. That's how we've always operated.

01

Private Tours, Always

Your group never shares a trip with strangers. Every day out is built around your people, your goals, and your pace. That's not a premium — it's just how we work.

02

Local Knowledge That Goes Deep

Evan and his team have spent years finding the routes most guides never take you to. Off the beaten track, around the corner, through the slot nobody else knows. That's the Moab we show you.

03

Every Trip Is a Lesson

You'll leave with more than great photos. Whether it's your first rappel or your first time reading canyon walls, our guides teach as they go — at your pace, without pressure.

04

Built for Real People

We guide everyone from first-timers to seasoned adventurers, and from families with kids age 8+ to corporate groups looking for challenge and cohesion. If you can get to Moab, we can build you a day.

05

Safety Without Fear-Mongering

We operate through fully permitted, insured outfitters. Our guides are certified professionals who manage risk matter-of-factly — so you can focus on the experience, not the anxiety.

06

Year-Round Adventure

Spring canyons. Summer highlands. Fall slickrock. Winter La Sal powder. There's no bad season in Moab when you're with someone who knows how to navigate each one.

What Guests Say

The proof is in
the trip.

Evan is a phenomenal guide — patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about canyoneering. We took our kids (9 and 12) and they had an absolute blast. The private tour made all the difference.

We booked a multi-sport day — canyoneering in the morning, climbing in the afternoon. Evan matched the difficulty to our group perfectly. We left exhausted in the best possible way. Will absolutely book again.

Dave & Rachel T.
TripAdvisor Review

What sets Clapper Adventures apart is the local knowledge. Evan took us to places we never would have found on our own — and taught us enough that we felt genuinely capable, not just tourists on a tour.

Common Questions

Things people
want to know.

Still on the fence? These are the questions we hear most. If yours isn't here, just call or send an inquiry — we're quick to respond.

Truly private — always. When you book with Clapper Adventures, your group has your guide's complete attention from start to finish. We never combine groups. Your day is built around your people, your pace, and your goals.

We guide all levels — from complete beginners trying canyoneering for the first time to experienced climbers looking to push their technique. When you reach out, just be honest about your group's fitness and experience, and we'll design a day that fits. No experience is required for most of our activities.

Yes — we welcome kids ages 8 and up for canyoneering and hiking tours. Younger children may be appropriate for certain hikes depending on ability. Our guides customize the route and techniques based on your group, so families with mixed ages and abilities are absolutely welcome. Just let us know when you inquire.

All trips include expert guide service, safety equipment appropriate to the activity, and the local knowledge that makes Moab's wild places accessible to real people. Specific inclusions vary by activity — reach out and we'll walk you through exactly what's provided and what to bring for your chosen adventure.

Spring (March–May) and fall (September–November) are peak seasons — ideal temps, gorgeous light, and the canyon country at its most spectacular. Summer is hot but very manageable with early starts and smart activity selection. Winter opens up the La Sal Mountains for backcountry skiing and snowboarding. We operate year-round and will help you choose the right activity for your timing.

Flash flood awareness is a core part of canyoneering safety on the Colorado Plateau. Our guides monitor weather conditions carefully and will not take groups into slot canyons during periods of elevated risk — even if that means adjusting the day. We take this responsibility seriously and communicate it matter-of-factly.

Start with an inquiry through our contact form or call us at 435.260.7066. Spring and fall book out quickly — we recommend reaching out 4–8 weeks ahead if you have specific dates. Summer and winter often have more flexibility. We'll confirm your trip details, gear requirements, and logistics before your visit.
